Onalaska Meet Reflection

I'm so proud of the girls' performance today.  There were so many great performances. For many, this was their first HS race! That is a big challenge they took on!  It's always nice to get a race under the belt, learn a few things and look forward to improving on it.

The team performed very well.  There was only one girls race (no V and JV delegation).  Central placed 5 girls in the top 10 (Wow!), with many close behind them.

Speaking of improvement, we had many individual improvements from Onalaska '14 to Onalaska '15.  We had a small team compete there last year. Of those who ran both races, nearly all improved from '14 to '15.

Karissa - 6 seconds, Maria - 9 seconds, Sara - 12 seconds, Nicole - 23 seconds, Sophie - 30 seconds, Ally - 42 seconds and Lilly, a whopping one minute AND 54 seconds.

I'm so proud of all the girls - great effort ladies!

The day in numbers:
88 - The number of seconds between our first and fifth runner.  Compare that to 2014 when the gap was 151 seconds! And then consider that our #1 runner was 12 seconds faster than last year.  These gals are runner much faster and tighter than last year! This could be a very competitive varsity team!
10 - how late, in minutes, the bus was. The ladies were great at staying calm despite leaving 15 minutes later than we planned. Yes, we will wait for a late bus. NO, we still won't wait for a late runner.  Sorry.
13 - Girls who ran their first HS 4k race. Congrats Ladies!
11 - Sara Brekke ran the 11th fastest time in race history on that course!! Given the rain we got yesterday, it was not a fast course, either.
5 - number of gals that puked (from what I was told) during or at the end of a race.  That is a record, as far as I know. (I don't plan to keep tracking this).
1 - Team place!
